ABOUT THE CLIENT/ client back story
This client had been wanting to work with me for about a year, and the timing was finally right! He and his wife had a retreat coming up with other entrepreneurs. They had gone to one of these retreats in the spring, and he left feeling like he wanted to step up his style game. He had a very specific sartorial point of view and came to me with a really cool streetwear meets grandpa core vision.
Style Priorities
Learn how to execute streetwear style layering
Cropped & rolled wide leg pants paired with striped sports socks
Rich neutrals with pops of blue and orange
Detailing like patchwork, overdyes, and unexpected pocket placement
Baggier fits
Our Focus
I curated an elevated casual streetwear meets grandpa chic wardrobe. I really wanted to capitalize on the opportunity for unique detailing in the pants, so I chose design elements like carpenter styles with fading, patchwork, uniquely placed cargo pockets, distressing, and drawstring ankles. This client liked the idea of vests in his collection, so I chose one that leaned workwear / streetwear and one with a color pop. Cardigans are a must for the Grandpa Core aesthetic and I went with slightly oversized fits.
Final Looks
The key to bringing these fits together was proportions, streetwear-influenced layering, and styling. During our fitting, I showed this client how to accomplish this by walking him through what to untuck, what buttons and snaps to close or leave open - the very specific and important details to help him achieve the overall look he was going for. We were intentional with how many times we rolled his pants, how we slouched the socks, and when to wear a chain verses a kerchief. Below is a small selection of some of his final fits.
I received this text from the client at the end of his retreat
"Leaving Newport Beach now, and last night at the wrap dinner I had five different people compliment me on my style. Thank you again for all of the help. It really made my night! I felt great and looked great. So many thanks to you!"
