ABOUT THE CLIENT/ client back story

When this client reached out to me, she had already begun to move her wardrobe away from her past corporate life and into her authentic self expression - which was fun and funky. She had a handful of garments that were tripping her up - she loved them and had one outfit combination she liked, but she wanted to wear the pieces more often and in new ways. She was also struggling to balance her overall silhouette, but couldn't quite put her finger on what was wrong. In addition to these conundrums, she had inherited a lot of really nice clothes and was seeking help in discerning what she should keep and what was never going to feel truly hers.

These silver pants were one of her favorite garments, but she struggled with dressing them down. I indulged the fancier side by working in the fur vest, and then styled these three other outfits appropriate for any casual night out.

The next series of outfit combinations came together in an interesting way.

  • She loved these jeans and was not getting enough wear out of them.

  • She found this collection of sweaters to be functional, but boring, and was not gravitating toward them.

  • She knew she liked her smaller cotton and silk scarves but had not made any outfits with them.

The jeans provided that creative edge that made the sweaters more exciting to wear and the scarves sprinkled color into the overall neutral palette.

In these last two outfits, I identified what felt off about the silhouette. She was not liking where the sweater hit and by layering it over the white dress shirt, we extended the length of her torso, creating a beautiful balance. The yellow skirt was such a fresh color, but when this client paired it with any shorter shirt or sweater, there was too much fullness in the hips. When she tried it with a longer baggier t-shirt, the line straightened and lengthened.

In my follow-up session overview, I provided the client with an intentional shopping list that would help her complete the styling of other outfits and fill in wardrobe holes we discovered. She replied,

"It made a huge difference to learn how to spice up and hold onto some of my cherished things."

Ready to spice up your wardrobe and view the contents of your closet in a new way?
